Workshop: Faux Batik
Learn to replicate the look of the Indonesian art form of Batik. We'll use polymer clay to mimic the hand dyed patterns that traditionally made using a wax resist. In this class you'll learn how to create a detailed non-dimensional pattern featuring a gradient background. The second stage of the workshop will focus on how to create the crackle overlay that is commonly seen in Batiking. Lastly, we'll review methods for finishing your "Batiks" as wearable works of art.
Specific materials required - participants must bring
1 block of black and white clays plus 4 or more blocks of assorted colors of student choice - no SCULPEY III.
